October 2010 - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

my last week of treatment

When this nightmare started 5 months ago, the end to it all seemed a lifetime away.

Although its been a long hard road, with the help and support of all my friends & family, it has been doable (more or less).

I found the last 6 weeks of radiotherapy, the most draining. Its the fact that you have to have the treatment everyday that makes it so hard.

The constant going to and from, the hospital and seeing all those white coated clad doctors, only confirm that your ill. I don’t mind if I never see another hospital again, however this is highly unlikely as I will still have to have check ups every few months.

Have I beaten the grim reaper? Not entirely as we all have to go sometime. However I’ve definitely come to an end of a road, one which I do not want to go down again. Read more

evaluating life

Tomorrow will be my last day of radiotherapy treatment and I’m tired both physically and emotionally. I feel as if I have been on a treadmill and at last I’m able to get off. There have been ups and downs as one would expect.

However, I thought by now I would be feeling my best as the worst is over and I’m near the end. If I’m honest, I feel worse. I think the accumulation of all the treatments are really starting to take their toll.

surprise its my birthday

The dreaded 50th has arrived! However this year I feel slightly different than I did when I hit 40, this year its a celebration of another year of life.

The day started like any other, we trotted off to the hospital for my daily dose of radio, we stopped off on the way home for a coffee and Jill had a lovely rose quartz bracelet as a present.

If you know nothing about crystals, a rose quartz brings love and harmony into your life and that’s something I need in abundance at the moment.

At 1pm my friend Bev came to collect me, as she had planned for us both to have lunch. As far as I knew the only other person that would be joining us was Miranda, so off we headed. We stayed local and went to a lovely place called the Arte Cafe. Read more
